Mt Lemmon Skyride Adventure

We’ll set off from Tucson on a remarkable journey to Mt. Lemmon, one of Southern Arizona's unique sky islands. This adventure takes us from the desert floor, dotted with towering cacti, to the cool, lush forests at 9,000 feet above sea level, all within less than 30 miles. You will learn about the diverse eco zones at each stop along the way and take a ride on the scenic skyride at the southernmost ski area in the US.

First, ascend to the Desert Grassland, where the landscape begins to change. Here, you'll find a mix of desert scrub and grasses, with yucca plants and agave scattered across the terrain. This area is home to various wildlife, including lizards and birds.

As we continue our climb, you'll reach the Oak Woodland. This zone is characterized by an abundance of oak trees and a cooler climate. Keep an eye out for deer, turkey and other animals that frequent this area.

The third stop takes you to the Pine-Oak Woodland, where the air is noticeably cooler and the vegetation denser. Ponderosa pines and alligator junipers dominate the landscape.

Reaching the summit at Mt. Lemmon, we’re surrounded by the Mixed Conifer Forest. The vistas from here are breathtaking, offering panoramic views of the entire journey you've just undertaken.

Before lunch, we’ll ride the scenic skyride that will take you to the top of the mountain where you’ll see the city at nearly 7,000 feet below us.

This adventure includes transportation, bottled water, snacks for the road AND LUNCH in the town of Summerhaven, high on top of the mountain.

Plan on about 6 hours for this adventure.
